Description

Using the widely-acclaimed video series The Story of English as a basis for discussion and study, we will follow the history of the English language from its infancy in the south of England, through its expansion in the British Isles and, via the British Empire and colonization, around the world. We will study the many variations of English, both regional and social, and observe how English has influenced other languages, just as it has been influenced by other languages as it has developed through the centuries. Prerequisite: ENG 101 with a ?C? or better Prerequisite: ENG 101 with a ?C? or better.
