Description

This course looks at substance use and substance use disorders as they relate to families and affected others. Students will learn about social and cultural perspectives on substance use and risk factors, protective factors, and building resiliency in families. Students will become familiar with typical family roles and dynamics as they explore addiction as a family disease. The relationship between addiction and connection will be emphasized as well as the need to support the family unit in treating substance use.
