Description

This course will take your knowledge of trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s)/Positive and Adverse Childhood Experiences (PACE’s), and the stress response system and provide practical guidance for strengthening learning environments for all ages. Students will examine the importance of school culture and ways of gathering baseline data prior to implementing new practices. As a class, we will explore the role of outdoor education and strengthening school climate. Students will be introduced to the classroom practice of Moving Stories as a means of providing personalized Social and Emotional Learning. Using Trauma Informed Care (TIC) Principles and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) indicators, students will utilize creative arts with prescribed SEL curriculum lessons. In an effort to combine knowledge with practice, students (individually or in groups) will plan, create, and implement a creative arts activity in a chosen setting.
