Description

This course will take inventory of individual life experiences using the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study conceptional framework as our guide. It will examine how stress affects the brain and impacts learning and behavior. Drawing from these concepts learners will examine the power of positive experiences, relationships, and personal voice in healing. Each participant will work toward “mapping a route for their journey” and create a personalized educational and career plan for the future, utilizing literature, art, music, poetry, pod-casts, videos, and journaling. Learners will be able to identify and apply the characteristics and resources needed to chart a successful educational and career path. As well, learners will exercise critical thinking and group dynamic skills by participating in group discussions that challenge learners to see multiple perspectives.
